The singing sands on Ruhnu

As well as being home to one strain of the Estonian Native Sheep, Ruhnu also has beaches with singing sand. This means that when you walk on the sand, it emits a kind of squeaking, high-pitched tone.

This is what the singing sands sound like, mixed with the sounds of the ocean lapping at the edges of this island, home to Selma’s flock of sheep.

04.19 …Stansted escalators

On a recent visit to Berlin to perform it pays my way and it corrodes my soul with Stephen Cornford at LEAP, I made these recordings. Whenever I could I stopped and recorded my situation from the raucous queue outside a nightclub in Oxford to the escalators at Stansted and a Mexican dinner in Berlin. The recordings were made using an Edirol R-09HR.

Extra context here.
